Anxiety, Worry, Stress....Peace

A recent chapel speaker addressed a topic especially potent for me and I'd say ALL college students.  Along with just about everyone in the world.  WORRY!  STRESS!  Job, school work, girlfriends, wives, roommates, car, money and just LIFE.

Admittedly, these sources of stress and worry are all commonplace.  Unfortunately, this worry and stress exposes one thing, doubt.  Doubt that a sovereign, loving, caring, gracious God is in control.  Doubt that God does actually provide.  That somehow, it is ALL up to us to figure the problems, the solutions, and everything in between!  And it's this idea that could not be further from the truth.  There is a peace, a strenght we can find in putting our worries, stresses, anxieties, to GOD.

"The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Phil. 4:6-7

And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?  And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.  But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?  [...] Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.  But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Matt. 6:27-30,33

Pray for strength and a peace that passeth all understanding.
